- I just purchased a Sportster 33.6 (after happily owning two other
- Supra's).
-
- The modem was not quite as terrible as I read hear on the
- net but it did have some minor problems.
-
- It is HARDLY PnP as others have mentioned.
- PnP doesn't mean much if you have to MANUALY load new
- drivers in between Pluging and Playing.
-
- But to top that off even after you do load the drivers
- It STILL does not recognize the modem. And to top
- that off the drivers (.INF) are not zipped and Netscape
- down loads them as Unix files and can really mess things
- up if you don't realize this. You should be able to diff
- (fc) them with only a dozen or so line differences.
-
- I had the Modem for 30days and on the 30th day I confirmed
- that Supra does have a new 33.6 (despite my calling them
- just a few days ago asking about it and getting the usual
- response "When it becomes a standard").
-
- After reading that some folks have confirmed a FAX recieving
- to be a problem on the Sportster with some fax machines. And
- the difficulty of of getting upgrades and service from USR I
- returned it and ordered the SupraSonic.
-
- The SupraSonic sure looks like one cool modem. I would of
- been happy with just adding 33.6 to the old style but no, Supra
- had to add Voice and a 32 char display to really make me
- crazy until I get it. Not to mention their great support which
- I hope has not been damaged by diamond.
-
- Kudo's to Supra.
-
- P.S. Why did you have to keep it such a secret, I never would
- of bot the USR if I knew it was coming.
